SAWC in National Media

Over the past few months, four SAWC members have been involved in Garrison Keillor’s “Writer’s Almanac.” Dana Wildsmith had her poem “Making A Living,” from One Good Hand, read by Mr. Keillor on November 13, 2005 and Joe Enzweiler had his poem “A Little Tune,” from The Man Who Ordered Perch, read on Tuesday, March 21, 2006. Both poets are members of the Southern Appalachian Writers Cooperative and their books were published by SAWC members Bob Cumming and Beto Cumming, operators and owners of Iris Press out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

In addition, SAWC friend Frank X. Walker, founder and namer of the Affrilachian Poets, was heard on “This I Believe” on March 27, 2006.  Congratulations to all.
