David Wayne Hampton teaches high school English and currently lives in the Appalachian foothills of Morganton, North Carolina, with his wife, daughter, and newborn son. Originally from Carroll County and Galax, Virginia, he enjoys listening to the Old Time and Bluegrass music he grew up with. Poetry is his labor of love, though in the last few years he’s been expanding into other genres of writing. He has previously published works in the Appalachian Journal, Iodine Poetry Journal, the illustrious Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel, and Broad River Review, where he won the 2003 Student Poetry Award.
